2006 Trapiche Broquel Malbec
The 2006 Trapiche Broquel Malbec is one of the best value wines we have had over the last few years. This full body wine from Argentina has a depth that is far superior to many wines twice the price (we picked this up at our local Costco for $11). The Wine Advocate best describes the wine as “a medium to full-bodied, layered, spicy wine with excellent grip and depth”. Trapiche is known for their value wines, and this Malbec takes value to a new level.

I saw this wine in Food and Wine magazine and thought I would like to try it with the recipe that was on the same page, Fajitas with Roast Beef.
I now know why Malbec is so highly regarded. It reminds me of a Syrah, but with more of a fruity nose. The Pelee Island Shiraz is similar in nose and approach/attack on the palate. An excellent value.
